Gina Keatley,CEO/Director of Nutrition
Gina Keatley is an award-winning chef, nutritionist, and humanitarian. Utilizing her professional and educational experiences, Gina has become known for her food-focused television appearances, cookbooks and her campaign against the use of processed foods in low-income areas.
Gina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Studies from New York University and holds a degree in Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of New York City. Her professional experience spans the food world; she has worked in hunger management as the founder of her own community food program, as a culinary consultant, food writer and fine dining professional. Gina’s specialty is Italian cuisine, although she has a broad international repertoire.
Gina has been chosen as a 2011 CNN Hero and L’oreal Women of Worth as well as featured on such programs and networks as the Food Network, the Dr. Oz Show, AFP Global News Network, ABC Channel 7 New York City, and many more, performing on air culinary and nutrition demonstrations for local and national broadcasts. She is the proud founder and creator of Nourishing NYC, a community food program that feeds, educates, and advocates for tens-of-thousands of in need families annually.

Scott Keatley, CFO/Director of Education
Scott Keatley is in charge of financial and educational needs for the Nourishing NYC. He holds a B.A. in Education from the Florida Atlantic University with a concentration in Accounting and is working toward a Juris Doctor at Concord Law School. Scott has over 10 years of experience in education with 5 of those years in low-income urban settings. He has a passion for food justice an extensive community involvement experience in low-income and in-need communities.

Loren Berman, Special Project Coordinator
Loren has attended The Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia University with degrees concentrating in Psychology of Stereotype and Prejudice. He is heavily involved in community development and specializing in Social Entrepreneurship and Microfinance as well as experience as a Director/Volunteer Coordinator for the Kraft Clothing Pantry. Loren also uses his communication skills for the enrichment of the community. He spent 2010 drafting, pitching and publishing articles in national media outlets for the Global Summer Institute, Spearheading the “What Would JEW Do?” online marketing and “Launch Night” video series campaigns and publicizing , preparing, and documenting PresenTense events that were open to the public. Nourishing welcomes Loren to the crew and cannot wait to see all the exciting projects he will come up with here at Nourishing.

Monica Johnson, Special Project Coordinator
Monica is an avid gardener and advocate for urban agriculture. She comes to Nourishing from Portland, Oregon. Monica is focused on empowering communities to use gardening to archive personal wellness. As a home chef she highlights the importance of seasonal eating and environmental awareness. Monica holds an A.A. in Liberal Arts and is looking forward to working in the Harlem community this planting season.

Carolyn Zezima, Director of Urban Agriculture Planning and Education
Carolyn Zezima has worked with food and farming enterprises and food policy organizations in Chicago and New York to promote urban agriculture and regional food systems, including founding two organizations, The Talking Farm, “The Farm with Something to Say,” an urban farming and educational enterprise in Evanston, Illinois, and most recently, NYC Foodscape, a food and farming consulting company, in New York City. She previously served as director of Chicago’s Green City Market and has served on several food policy councils, meeting with local officials and legislators to influence food policy and improve overall food access, creating new community farmers markets and helping to draft and pass legislation, such as the Illinois Food, Farm and Jobs Act. An inspiring change agent, she has chaired urban farming panels and spoken at conferences and served as spokesperson to print and TV media to promote the missions of food and farming organizations. She currently is a member of the Food Systems Network NYC and serves on its Food Policy and Development Committees, writing food policy article, plan events and helping to draft local food policy and sustainability proposals to include in the upcoming PlaNYC 2030 revision. She is also a member of the NYC 2012 Farm Bill Coalition.
Carolyn is also an avid gardener and trained chef, attending the California Culinary Academy and has cooked in restaurants, catering, food publishing, hunger organizations and recipe development companies. She also practiced law after graduating from Duke University School of Law, and is a licensed member of the New York, California and Illinois bars.

Jessica Sturm, Nutrition Editor
Jessica has been a nutritionist for three years. She holds an M.S. in Human Health and Nutritional Sciences from the University of Guelph (where she created a healthy eating exhibit with the Children’s Museum of Kitchener). Her specialty is teaching. She helps everyone she can understand how foods affect their body so that they can feel their best. She believes that you are what you eat and that everyone deserves to eat well. She’s a food fanatic and loves sharing her knowledge with others. Any questions you have about what’s for dinner, she’s the person to ask.

Pauline Newman, Nutrition Specialist and Educator
Pauline a lifetime New Yorker and graduate of The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in the Health Counselor Program has been with Nourishing NYC since its inception. Pauline’s role as a nutrition educator at Nourishing NYC has ranged from creation of curriculum and execution of nutrition classes to in-need community clients to serving as a Nourishing NYC nutritional ambassador throughout NYC. Pauline also holds a core role as lead nutrition educator and mentor for the award winnering Junior Chef Program with newly obtained partnership The New York Yankees Corporate Responsibly Team in 2011.
Pauline also serves on Nourishing NYC’s board, helping the organization’s continued growth and expansion. Pauline’s commitment and desire to combat disease through education and empowerment has made her an asset to Nourishing NYC.
